1) The LCD appears to be factory glued to the digitizer which is more similar to the first generation iPhones than the iPhone 3G and 3GS. The digitizer can be separated from the LCD on the 3G and 3GS models, which should be interesting to all, but for the repair folks like us–this means that the 4G screen repair price will be higher since both parts will have to be replaced at once.

2) The iPhone 4G front panel seems to be about 1/4? longer than its predecessors. ***My .02 here is not necessarily that the new iPhone is going to be bigger. A lot of speculation on the size of the new iPhone has come out, however, it could also mean that the front panel is longer because the bezel surrounding the front panel is a different size, or is absent on the 4G models. We really won’t know until it comes out.***

3) There is an interesting reflective, mirror-like surface directly above the speaker. This is likely a spot for the proximity sensor. If that’s what it is, it’s in a different location than previous models.

ivplus Fastmac iV Plus adds battery pack and universal remote to iPhone

The case has a USB port to also charge another device for those ambitious enough to carry multiple gadgets in their pocket as well as support for an LED flash for iPhone photographers or those that need to illuminate their way through dark spaces.

The hardware kit will retail for $100 when it launches, though the launch date has been elusive. It’s too bad that not many smartphones come with consumer grade IR ports these days as the touchscreens, a nice UI, and some good software can add yet another feature to the “do” list of smartphones.

Last year one of the most popular cases for the iPhone 3G was the Solar Powered case, it was a huge success and demand was so great that stock dried up very quickly.

iPhone 3G Solar Powered Case

The case design is different to the previous model – it’s now made from a tough polycarbonate that will help protect your phone from knocks and scrapes. The whole of the back cover is a solar panel and can generate enough energy to fully charge the case in around 3 hours in sunlight. Built into the case is a powerful 2100mAh battery – that’s 50% more than the iPhone’s built in battery.

The case can be charged using either the solar panel, or if you need to charge it faster, you can connect it to a USB port on your computer or laptop using a Mini USB cable.  Once fully charged, the case can more than double the standby, talk time and audio playback times of your phone. It has a separate on/off switch, giving you the choice to keep the extra power until you need it or to keep your battery topped up through out the day.

Another new feature over it’s predecessor is that with the Solar Power Sleeve you can now charge any other device by connecting it to the USB output on the bottom of the case.
