While everyone in the US is waiting for the carriers to drop their versions of the Samsung Galaxy S, the international version is seeing good sales numbers in South Korea. Launched on June 24th in South Korea, Samsung has already sold 200,000 units after only being on the market for 10 days. Considering that Apple’s iPhone 3GS sold a little over 800,000 units in roughly 8 months, this is big news for Samsung. The company attributes the handset’s success to how it better suits the needs of Korean users, however they only cite the preloaded apps as the reason for this. Granted this is only one country, but perhaps the Samsung Galaxy will increase their market share as they hoped.

What do you think the sales figures will look like in the US? Which will be the most popular: T-Mobile’s Vibrant, AT&T’s Captivate, Sprint’s Epic 4G or Verizon’s Fascinate?

The Samsung Galaxy S blitz has barely gotten off the ground around the world and yet Russian website Itrans (translated) is saying they have the first pictures of its alleged successor. While we wait for our Vibrant, Fascinate, Epic 4G, and Captivate handsets to arrive, the rumor mill sees no reason in sitting back. According to Itrans, the i9200 Galaxy S 2 will arrive early 2011 with some high end hardware.

Based on the specs and suggested release, it’s safe to assume this would be running Android 3.0/Gingerbread. It’s hard to imagine this phone coming down the pipeline as quickly as the rumor suggests, but crazier things have happened.

Early Android handset adopters (cough, cough…G1 owners) were none too happy about HTC leaving out a 3.5mm headphone jack for listening to audio. That was then and this is now and the 3.5mm headphone jack is the standard it should have always been. It appears Samsung took the idea to the next level. The international version of the Samsung Galaxy S has a menu option to enable video output directly to your TV through the 3.5 mm jack. Pretty cool, right?

While recently release phones have a similar capability, it seems the Galaxy S has the ability to dump everything from your screen to your TV. This feature will essentially turn your TV into a live screencast of your Galaxy S, homescreen and all. No word yet as to whether this feature will be included in the versions launching soon state-side, but when we find out we will let you know as soon as we can! Check out the video after the break for a very impressive demo!

The Samsung Italy Facebook profile shared some interesting info to its subscribed readers. The Samsung Omnia HD is about to get not one, but two important updates over the next two weeks. The first one, expected this week, will improve the over-all performance of the Symbian based smartphone.

The second Omnia HD update, which should become available for download next week, will solve an issue that has disgruntled quite a few users in our comments section. Yes, it’s the poor audio quality recording during video capturing. Many users find the AMR codec used for encoding auido in the Omnia HD videos quite poor.

The upcoming update will allow Samsung i8910 Omnia HD to record 720p videos with AAC audio which is quite better and used by many cameraphones.

If you still haven’t given in to the impressive 720p video recording by Samsung Omnia HD, check out our Omnia HD preview that we posted recently.

Despite it being another sleepy Sunday, yesterday Samsung decided it was good timeto announce four new entry-level handsets that it hopes will prove popular with the average consumer. Starting off with the S6700 that Samsung has previously shown off at various trade shows, we find a dual-band HSDPA slider with a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 3 megapixel camera with auto-focus and dual-LED flash, GPS and 120MB of internal memory plus microSDHC support. Next up we have the C5510 with its basic 2 megapixel shooter, smaller 2.2-inch QVGA display and microSDHC support. Taking a more music-centric approach is the M2510, which has dedicated music keys, a 3.5mm headphone jack, DNSe audio enhancement, FM radio tuner with RDS and a 1.3 megapixel camera. Finally we have the M2310, the only clam shell device in the bunch and easily the most underwhelming handset we’ve seen in quite some time. It has a VGA camera, 9MB of internal memory, 8GB microSD support and quad-band EDGE connectivity. Pricing and availability for the S6700, C5510, M2510 and M2310 have yet to be announced.
